If you are interested in developing a program to read electronic books, you may want to look into an e paper library. These devices can display text and images in a specialized format. Typically, these devices have a small screen of about 2.7 inches. To create an e-book, you must first provide the e-paper screen’s lattice data, such as the number of lines per page. Next, you can copy the code to picture.h or 200×96 pixels, then the e-Paper library will handle the rest.

The Pervasive Displays (PD) library is a specialized solution for e-paper panel management. This library has a comprehensive set of e-paper demo programs that showcase different genres of artwork. Since e-papers are made to be durable and easy to maintain, this library does not require specific hardware. It also automatically saves previous images. Users can specify how many times they want a frame to repeat, as well as a number of other variables, such as temperature.

In addition to libraries, developers can also use example code that will allow them to develop programs for ePaper displays. These libraries cannot be installed via Library Manager, but instead must be manually installed. There are two sources for the ePaper library:

The e-paper library is compatible with a range of e-paper panels, including e-papers 2.0 and 2.7 inches. The libraries are available for a variety of panel types, depending on the manufacturer. For example, a Small e-Paper Library is compatible with an EG020AS012, while the EM027AS011 is compatible with the New Panel Library. If you want a 2.7-inch e-paper display, you should purchase EG020AS012 or EM027BS013, as the last two are smaller.

The e-Paper library will come with a demo software that you can install. Install the software to a new directory in your Home directory. The demo will load the Waveshare libraries and code. The examples directory contains python files for the various display types. You should understand the difference between each display type before you start modifying your code. If you are not sure whether your device supports e-paper, the demo software will show the various display orientations and allow you to view them in various orientations.

Once you have installed the program, you will need to edit the configuration file. The configuration file contains a line labelled display_type: none. This should be replaced with display_type: « none ».
