The College Park Rotary Club helps build future leaders in the local community by sponsoring a number of events and programs. The club also invests in the community’s youth through its involvement in the community’s schools and the local library. The club’s events include the Taste of College Park, an annual fundraiser that features food and beverages from local restaurants. The club also awards scholarships for local students from five area schools.

Meetings take place in a banquet room located in the front of Dubsdread Café, just one mile west of I-4 and near Edgewater Drive. Parking is available in the building’s front lot. Once inside, you’ll find the College Park Rotary Club’s banquet room.

Patsy Kobbe has been a member of the club since 2009. She joined at the invitation of her daughter, Dr. Anna-Mae Kobbe. Since then, she has held leadership positions in the club, including Vice-President for Programs in 2016-2017 and President in 2018-2019. She has also participated in multiple service projects, including Operation Warm. She also is active in her church and in her community.

Sister Mary was the guest speaker at the College Park Rotary‘s weekly meeting on May 25. She praised the generosity of the Rotary and expressed gratitude for the support the school has received. « This gift is providential, » she said. « It will enable us to continue our efforts to update St. Ann’s and make the facility a better place to work, » said Bader.

The College Park Rotary chapter is about to embark on a special year. The members work to improve their community, including by planting trees in Loch Haven Park and hosting a light show at City Hall. The club holds its weekly meeting on Thursday mornings at 7:30. Recently, it elected a new president.

Nomie Hamid, president of the College Park Rotary club, is an example of the type of humanitarian work the club does. She knew in early March that a pandemic was coming to Maryland, so she set up a hotline for the local community to use to seek help. The hotline now has over 300 volunteers answering calls, performing tasks and spreading the word about the hotline.

One of the most popular fundraising events held by the College Park Rotary is the Taste of College Park. The event features food, wine, music, and silent and live auctions. More than 300 tickets are sold. This fundraiser allows the club to meet the needs of local residents and support community projects. It also promotes community pride among residents.
